Okay, so I'm a little bit embarrassed to admit that I traveled to places like Australia, India and Russia long before I ever made it Austria. And considering that I grew up in Bavaria I really should have visited sooner... sorry neighbor!
But when I finally went to Austria I really loved it! On my first trip I spent some time in Feldkirch, a beautiful medieval town in the west of the country. It was just before Christmas and the houses were all decorated and there was even a traditional Christmas market going on!
My second trip took me to Vienna two years later. I had heard a lot about what a grand, elegant city Vienna is and honestly the buildings were every bit as impressive as I'd imagined them to
be. No matter where you turn you're constantly surrounded by incredible architecture!
Even though I just had a couple of hours to spend in this incredibly beautiful city there was one thing I just couldn't miss: visiting one of the many traditional coffee houses in Vienna. People come here to read the news papers, meet friends and of course to eat cake (like the famous Sacher Torte - a rich chocolate cake with apricot jam).
I definitely want to go back to Vienna at some point, ideally during Summer as I imagine it to be even more beautiful then!
So let's look at some more pictures...
