I can't believe it's already been seven years since my trip to Barcelona with one of my best friends! It was just a long weekend away but we had the time of our lives: we tried yummy dried fruit & smoothies at La Boqueria Food Market, wandered up and down Las Ramblas and technically broke into Antonio Gaudi's Parque Güell... well not really, it was just officially "closed" due to a storm the night before which uprooted some trees inside. Access was strictly at your own risk and as the official entrance was closed, we had to crawl under police tape and to climb over a wall to get in (as suggested by the park guides). This was our last full day in the city and we could hardly miss this! There were guides and cops in the park to tell us where it was safe to go and where not so we happily wandered around exploring this world-famous colorful piece of art - for free & with only a handful of other tourists inside.
We also checked out the never-ending building site of the amazing Sagrada Familia cathedral, another Gaudi masterpiece, wandered around the harbor and did some shopping at El Corte Ingles, a major Spanish department store.
Barcelona is a huge vibrant city with incredible architecture & amazing food and is easy enough to get around on foot.
Fun fact: in Barcelona they technically have their own language besides Spanish - Catalan - which is derived from Latin but is quite different from Spanish.
But enough talk, it's time for some pictures! :)
