Hey you lovely travelers!
I get asked a lot of questions when it comes to my travel addiction, so below I
attempt to answer a few of them in my very first FAQ post. Here we go...
#1 Why do you travel?
The answer to this question is probably the same as most people will give you:
I always dreamt of traveling the world and have been interested in other cultures and countries since I was little. Consider this stereotype fulfilled ;)
I loved watching travel documentaries when I was younger and when I saw a program about the School of the Air in the Australian Outback I knew I wanted to go there one day. I was hooked on reading travel books, anything from Bill Bryson to Lonely Planet and always had a thing for learning languages. Fast forward to 2007 when I finished my diploma in European Studies & International Management (I'm now a European Secretary and should probably work in Brussels) and then left to live in Ireland for a while. It wasn't long before I met people from all over the world, moved into an apartment where people from 6 different countries lived and got a job in a multi-national IT company. In the first 6 months in Ireland I improved my French more than my English (oh the irony!), had my first close-up Ryanair experience (once you figure out all the tricks involved in booking it's actually not that bad!) and started planning my Working Holiday in Australia. Almost over night I realized that all those dreams about traveling the world were much easier to achieve than I thought! I had caught the travel bug and haven't looked back since.
#2 How many countries have you been to?
As of October 2016 I have been to 70 countries, most of which I've traveled to in the last 8 years.
#3 What are your favorite countries?
Difficult one as it's hard to even start to compare Peru to India! There are tons of awesome places I'd love to go back to but my top 5 countries are probably these:
#4 What's next on your list?
Or as my co-workers always ask in the kitchen when I'm making my morning
coffee: "Going anywhere nice again?" Yep, more destinations are in the pipeline.
I'll be in the US for a week in Fall (RI, CT & NY - yaaay!) and Prague & Reykjavik are on later in the year. For 2017 we're working on a little Africa trip.
#5 How did you get into blogging?
The simple answer is by reading other blogs and getting inspired! May it be for fashion, food or travel - there are so many incredible bloggers out there who all just want to inspire you, share their ideas, product reviews and experiences. And every single one of them is different. I may have been to 70 countries but recently I found some awesome tips on how to pack your backpack (still a mystery to me after all those years!) on a blog owned by a girl who has been to barely 40 countries. You'll never stop learning and other people's experiences might just help you enhance your own. So yes, I might write about the same things as most other travel bloggers but my personal take on it may just be a bit different and maybe you may like that!
At least I hope you do ;)
